How to Create an Office Space to Impress the Clients

Impressing a client happens in many stages. The first stage often involves being impressed by the resume or past accomplishments of a company. Performance and completing a project beyond initial expectations is another stage. An important moment between the two is when a client first comes into the office. This is the time when a client will establish a first impression of the larger business. Offices that are in disrepair or that seem very unprofessional can actually make clients less trusting of the abilities of the company. Several tips will help businesses to create an office space that impresses clients.

Advertise Successes
The office space should advertise current and past successes. The business should have pictures, models or even framed graphics showing successfully completed projects, recognizable clients and other accolades. This will impress clients by immediately showing the experience and skill of the company. It can also reveal clients, awards or projects a client might not have been aware are associated with the business.

Update Equipment
The equipment in the office is what employees will use to complete jobs for a client. Older equipment can cause a client to lose some confidence in the company. All of the visible equipment in the office should be updated and modernized. This should include computers, peripherals and phone systems. Updated equipment shows a commitment to the industry and the work that clients will appreciate.

Install Professional Lighting
Many offices in the country have familiar fluorescent lighting panels in the ceiling that cast an unattractive glare and color on nearly every surface. Although clients might be used to this type of lighting, it does not always leave the best impression. One way to impress clients is to install professional or designer lighting. This means targeted lighting with color adjusted bulbs that complement the furniture and decor. The lighting should also rely on ambient illumination in many areas in order to soften the office and make it feel more intimate.

Art and Color
A large Houston office space for lease generally comes undecorated and full of neutral tones appropriate for a business. One way to impress clients is to add art and small bursts of color throughout the space. The walls should not be left bare. Hanging interesting artwork that is not offensive or overly distracting will complete the decor. Adding color through plants, furniture and even decorative fixtures will break up the space. This makes the space seem inviting and less formal. This will make clients feel more comfortable while in the office.
